The position advertised is for a Permanent Deputy Principal at Ballyduff National School (Kilmeaden), Waterford. Ballyduff NS is a co-educational school with special classes for children with autism, under the patronage of the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore.

We currently have 232 pupils attending our school.

Our staff consists of 9 Mainstream Class Teachers, 3 Special Class Teachers, 4 Special Education Teachers, 9 Special Needs Assistants, 4 Bus Escorts, a Caretaker, a Cleaner, a Secretary, and a Principal.

The appointment will be made via open competition, and the most successful candidate at the interview will commence duties on Monday, 7th October. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining and upholding the Catholic ethos of the school and hold a recognised qualification to teach religious education.

Applicants must comply with the eligibility criteria for Deputy Principal as set out in Circular 44/2019 from the Department of Education.

The roles and responsibilities for the post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019 as follows:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity

These roles and responsibilities currently include:
- Acting Principal (when required)
- SEN Coordinator
- Languages
- Initiative Leader
- Yard Supervision Timetabling
- Assessment

These roles and responsibilities are subject to review and change in line with Circular 44/2019.

The appointment will be subject to, but not limited to:
- Satisfactory references
- Continuing Teaching Council registration
- Current Garda vetting requirements
- Occupational Health screening
