The Board of Management of St Patrick’s GNS invites applications for the position of Administrative Principal. This is a permanent position, commencing on August 28th 2024 and the appointment will be made via open competition under the terms of Circular 0044/2019.
The present staff comprises of 8 Mainstream Class Teachers, 3 SET teachers, a shared HSCL and 3.33 SNAs.
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria: Fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council and have 5 years recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, taken from ‘Looking at our School, 2022: A Quality framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools’.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting.
- An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.
- A clear understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with all staff members, Board of Management, parents/ guardians and the wider school community.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- A commitment to shared leadership and a willingness to delegate and develop leadership capacity and empower others.
- Excellent communication skills
- An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience including diversity in education.
