POST DETAILS
Additional Information:
The Board of Management of Carrig NS invites application for the post of part-time caretaker. The successful candidate will be required to work for 10 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have some experience in the following areas:
• General caretaking and maintenance of school premises;
• Keep school grounds in good order, including mowing, weeding, strimming, power washing and maintenance of paths and all access routes;
• Carrying out minor repairs and improvements;
• Maintenance and repair of furniture and fittings;
• Renewal/touch up of paintwork (indoors and outdoors) where necessary;
• Keep grounds clear of rubbish and weeds;
• Manage weekly refuse collection;
• Clean windows, doors and corridors where necessary;
• Termly maintenance of GP hall and other public areas;
This list is not exhaustive; other tasks may be assigned as required by the school principal.
The ability to work on one’s own initiative and to complete tasks to a high standard are essential.
The caretaker will be required to be a keyholder.
Previous experience of working in a trade or in a similar position would be advantageous.
Holidays must be taken at times to coincide with school holidays and by prior agreement with management.
The role requires the person to be flexible in their hours of work and may be required to work outside of normal school hours to safely provide maintenance and to make facilities available.
Employment is subject to Garda Vetting Procedure and compliance with all appropriate Child Protection and Department of Education and Skills guidelines will be required. Work must be carried out in compliance with the School’s Safety Statement.
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time (duration of the school year) period from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
