Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Special Class Teacher in Limerick Community Special School under Permanent Contracts(s) of Employment to take effect immediately. (6 Positions initially with the capacity to increase depending on enrolment figures)

Limerick Community Special School is a Community Special School that will provide for the needs of students who have a diagnosis of Autism and complex learning needs or Moderate General Learning Disabilities and complex learning needs who require the support of a special school, from the beginning of Primary school to eighteen years of age. The new school will be located in Dromdarrig, Mungret Co. Limerick V94ND77. Limerick Community Special School will open in September 2024.
Limerick Community Special School is funded by the Department of Education. The Patron of the school is Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. Limerick Community Special School is a state school, multi-denominational and co-educational. Limerick Community Special School is underpinned by the ETB core values of Excellence in Education, Care, Respect, Equality and Community. Limerick Community Special School has registered to be a Droichead School.
To qualify for appointment candidates must be able to comply with the following;
• Be fully registered under Route 1 (Primary)/Route 4 (Other) OR Route 2 (Post Primary) is required.
• A post-graduate qualification in Special Education is desirable.
• Significant experience with children who have a diagnosis of Autism/Autistic Spectrum Disorders and/or General Learning Disability is desired.

An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies that may occur within the academic year (2024/2025).
