Our Lady of Mercy SNS is a DEIS Band 1 all girls Catholic Primary School of 292 pupils, located in Waterford City. It is co located with Holy Family JNS (which caters for pupils from Junior Infants to 2nd class).
Our Lady Of Mercy SNS provides for pupils from 3rd Class to 6th Class. Our Lady of Mercy is a richly diverse school community from the perspectives of nationality, ethnicity, cultural traditions and religious beliefs. The school aims to provide an open, welcoming and nurturing environment where all pupils can flourish. The school offers a broad and holistic education and the pupils are well served by a dedicated and hard working team of teachers, SNAs, ancillary staff and school management.
Our Lady of Mercy SNS now welcomes applications for the appointment of Principal Teacher from suitably qualified candidates. The appointment process will be governed by the terms of Department of Education Circular 0044/2019.
The selection of the successful candidate will be based on the four competencies detailed below which are aligned to the Quality Framework for Leadership and Management set out in Looking at Our School 2022: A Quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools :
1. Leading Learning and Teaching.
2. Managing the Organization.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
Understanding of and demonstrated experience in the following areas is desirable:
1. DEIS, Inclusion and Wellbeing.
2. Leadership, including shared leadership.
3.Strategic planning and problem solving.
4. Curriculum development and implementation.
5. High quality learning, teaching and assesment.
6. Additional learning needs.
7. Innovation and creativity.
8. Implementation of National Guidelines and Policy.
Application to include letter of application, current Garda vetting and the standard application form for Primary Principalship and Deputy Principalship should be submitted by post no later than 6pm on Thursday, May 9th 2024.
