Applications are invited for the post of Principal teacher in St. Joseph's NS, Ballybrown, Clarina, Co. Limerick, V94 C586. This friendly, vibrant and inclusive school has a Catholic ethos and is under the patronage of the Catholic Diocese of Limerick. The successful candidate must have a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education and a commitment to promoting the Catholic ethos.
As of January 2024, there are thirteen mainstream class teachers, four special education teachers and two special needs assistant posts.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
In addition, the following skills, knowledge, competencies and experience are desirable:
• Proven leadership skills, including policy development and implementation.
• Strong organisational capabilities. Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
• Evidence of continuing professional development in a leadership role.
• Ability to promote a culture of caring, kindness, learning and creativity in the school.
• Excellent communication skills expressed both in leadership and teamwork.
• An excellent knowledge and understanding of Leadership, Management and Administration in Primary Schools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SSE and the Primary Curriculum.
• A commitment to shared leadership and a willingness to delegate, develop leadership capacity and empower others.
• A high level of understanding and knowledge in the area of STEM, particularly in light of the Digital Strategy and new Maths Curriculum.
• Ability to foster links with parents/guardians and the wider community as well as a commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Together the Principal, the Deputy Principal and three Assistant Principal 2 post-holders form the senior management team of the school, and work in tandem to ensure the effective leadership and management of the school.
This is a great opportunity to lead a very progressive school into the next phase of its development.
The post shall commence on Monday, April 8th, 2024.
Candidates called to interview will be required to provide proof of qualifications and Teaching Council registration. The appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening.
