Dernakesh National School requires a bus escort to accompany pupils to and from school each day. This position will require availability to work 5 days per week (Mon - Fri) for approximately 3 hours per day in accordance with the school calendar.

The escort should be available between 7:50 and 9:20 am and 1:45 - 3:15 pm each day (these times are to be finalised and so are approximate and subject to change).

The school is the meeting and drop off point with the bus contractor and the escort must have their own transport to and from the school. Eircode: H16KP86

The rate of pay is €13.40 per hour, in line with the Department of Education guidelines for school bus escorts as are the conditions of service.

Good communication skills are essential and experience of working with children with Autism is desirable.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Escorting the pupils safely to and from the school
* Liaising with school staff and parents/guardians when necessary
* Assisting the pupils to board and alight from transport safely and ensuring that the pupil is received by the responsible adult at each set down point
* Ensuring the pupil is seated and wearing a safety belt for the duration of the journey.

Appointment is subject to Garda Vetting requirements and verification of references - please include at least one work related referee and one character referee together with their contact details with your C.V.

The successful candidate will also be required to complete the relevant 'Children First Online Training'
