**This is a Temporary exceptional arrangement whereby the successful candidate may leave their permanent post, to take up this position, and return to their own permanent post after the 23/24 school year. This position would be suitable for someone seeking leadership experience.

Ardkeenan National School is a rural co-educational primary school, which caters for pupils from junior infants to sixth class under the patronage of the Bishop of Elphin.
There are 4 mainstream teachers, 1.5 special education teachers, 1.5 special needs assistants, 1 part-time secretary and 1 part-time cleaner.

Roles and responsibilities for the principal post are set out in the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in DES Circular 0044/2019:

1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.

Candidates should have current and continuing Teaching Council registration and show evidence of and commitment to ongoing Professional Development. The appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening. A commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos of the school is essential.
