Abbey Primary School is a new school resulting from the amalgamation of Scoil na nAingeal Naofa and St. Joseph’s BNS

The new school has a Catholic ethos and is under the patronage of the Bishop of Elphin

The successful candidate must hold a recognised qualification to teach religion and be committed to the promotion of the Catholic ethos

Eligibility criteria is set out in Circular 0044/2019

Role and Responsibilities for this post relate to the 4 domains of Leadership and Management as per Circular 0044/2019 1. Leading Teaching and Learning; 2 Managing the Organisation; 3. Leading School Development; 4 Developing Leadership Capacity

*While start date is given as Sept 1 2023 release of successful applicant from current duties will be sought shortly after interview / appointment to enable a much earlier starting date

The following skills, knowledge, and experience are desirable

Proven communication, organisational, and leadership skills in leading teaching and learning and school development

Previous experience in school leadership

Experience and knowledge of DEIS urban (one of the amalgamating schools is DEIS urban band 2)

Knowledge and experience of SEN, EAL and managing special classes.

Ability to encourage and foster the involvement of parents and the wider school community
