Part-Time Project Worker (14 hours per week) post

The School Completion Programme (SCP) is part of the Department of Education and Skills (DES) DEIS Strategy – Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools and is funded by Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, and delivers interventions to both primary and post primary children and young people who have been identified as potentially at risk of leaving school early.

Synge Street SCP is based in Dublin 8 and comprises three schools in its cluster (one Primary , one Gaelscoil Primary & and one Secondary).

A position has become vacant for a part-time (20 hours per week) Project Worker to cover for the 2022/23 school year. The job will entail assisting the Local Coordinator in implementing the programme locally, as follows:
• The organisation and facilitation of After School Clubs, Transfer Programme, Holiday supports and personal development programmes for young people in primary and post primary schools.
• To provide academic, behavioral and emotional support to select participants in groups and on a one-to-one basis, supporting solution-focused outcomes.
• To liaise with school personnel, external agencies and families/guardians as required.
• To maintain written records of work with students and produce written reports as required. To attend meetings and participate in staff training where relevant.
• Some knowledge of the Irish language would be an advantage.
Essential Requirements
To successful candidate will have:
Qualifications
• A relevant third-level qualification in youth or community work, social care, education, or a related discipline
Experience& Knowledge
• A minimum of 2 years’ practical experience of working with children and young people and families who experience disadvantage is essential.
• Experience in working with children and young people on a one-to-one basis and in groups and facilitating evidence-based programmes for children and young people is desirable.
Other
• Garda vetting will apply.
Remuneration
Salary as per CDYSB new entrant salary scale, starting point dependent on skills and experience. This will be a fixed term/specified purpose contract from May to 31st August 2023, with renewal annually dependent upon funding.
