Job Title: Literacy & Technology Teacher
Job Details: Fixed Term Contract – Concluding in June 2022 – 2 days per week (12 hours)
Remuneration to be outlined at interview stage.
The programme runs on Thursdays & Fridays from 9.30am - 3.30pm.
Students are halfway through the 2nd year of a 2-year programme.
The Teacher will be supported by 2 Classroom Assistants.
Job Description: To deliver the literacy & technology (Latch-On) programme to 10 adult students with Down syndrome, including administering assessments and maintaining student records. To differentiate materials and topics ensuring all students learn at their own level and work to their strengths. To create and submit differentiated lesson plans weekly in advance of class. To incorporate IT into classroom activities (hardware provided). To ensure a respectful learning environment is maintained.
This role would be ideally suited for a primary or special education teacher.
Skills and Attributes:
Essential:
Fully Qualified
Member of the Teaching Council of Ireland
Excellent I.T. skills
Ability to differentiate materials
Garda Vetting
Desirable:
Knowledge and understanding of issues associated with Down syndrome. Experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
