An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

O’Brennan NS invites applications from highly dedicated candidates for 0.5 hours - SNA position.
Applicants holding a Panel Form 1 (PF1) should clearly identify this and supply a scanned copy of the form as part of their application.
We also have Two Fixed term Special Needs Assistant positions.
i. This is a Fixed Term Full Time SNA position to cover a Career break and will be based in a Special Class for children with an autism spectrum diagnosis.
ii. This is a Fixed Term Full Time SNA position to cover an internal Job Share arrangement for the 2022/2023 school year.
Candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, flexible, able to work on their own initiative and in a team capacity. All school staff are expected to engage in relevant CPD and respect the school ethos.
We are looking for someone who is responsive to the needs of the children and the school.
Candidates must be willing to undertake CPD courses which relate to the needs of the children & the school.
Experience of and/or, training in working with children with A.S.D, EBD, is desirable.
Knowledge and experience of working with children with ASD is desirable along with experience of working in Special Classes.
Experience of appropriate interventions in an ASD Classroom would be advantageous
SNAs can be allocated to any SNA role in the school at any time, at the discretion of the school principal. Knowledge and experience of working with children with Autism is desirable.
Please outline in your application how your skills/experience meet the requirements of the job description outlined above. An additional qualification in additional/special needs care and/or education, or related area, is advantageous.
Additional childcare and/or other relevant qualifications or courses (e.g. First Aid, Manual Handling, Positive Behaviour Support Strategies, TEEACH, PECS, LÁMH, etc) would be of great benefit.
