The National Council for Special Education (NCSE) is an independent statutory body set up to improve the delivery of education services to persons with special educational needs arising from disabilities with particular emphasis on children.
NCSE support services are delivered through our regional teams comprising special educational needs organisers (SENOs) who interact with parents and schools; advisors who provide continuing professional development (CPD) and in-school support to schools in the area of special educational needs; visiting teachers (VTs) who provide support to children and young people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Blind/Visually Impaired, their families and teachers; and head office personnel.
SENOs are responsible for fulfilling the functions of the Council within a designated district of operations in relation to the identification of and delivery and co-ordination of education services to students with disabilities. The Temporary SENO may be required to undertake all or a subset of the agreed SENO functions, as directed by management.
The NCSE welcomes expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates who are interested in temporary positions as Special Educational Needs Organisers (SENOs). A panel will be formed from which Temporary vacancies that occur may be filled. The panel will last for two years and contracts offered will be for fixed terms of between three and nine months. Posts may be located in any of the NCSE’s local offices. The NCSE currently has 29 local offices throughout the state.
Candidates must, on or before the 11th February 2022, have two year’s prior experience in the NCSE as a SENO or Senior SENO /Team Manager. Selection for appointment will be on the basis that the appointee has the necessary competencies, experience, knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of any SENO role in the NCSE.
