Special Education Class Teacher

St. Ita’s and St. Joseph’s Primary and Post-Primary Special School is under the Patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of the Kerry Diocese (16 Class Teacher School +5 specialist subject teachers at present). The Board of Management wishes to invite expressions of interest in 2 permanent vacancies, with initial duties as a class teacher for pupils with special needs (primary and post-primary curricula and syllabi as well as vocational training programmes). These posts may be subject to the supplementary panel for the Diocese of Kerry. An expression of interest should be forwarded to the Chairperson of the Board of Management at the following email: teacherinterviews@sisj.ie by the 29th of September 2021. Please include the Teacher Application Form which can be downloaded from www.educationposts.ie as well as copies of Garda vetting, and your Teaching Council Registration with your application. Experience/skills in working with special needs, ASD and TEACCH, vocational training (mechanics; beauty; hairdressing, painting, decorating, home maintenance, baking and hospitality), physical education, music, drama and holistic well-being training (mindfulness-meditation, Pilates etc) are not essential but would be beneficial. The initial duties of the post may change in relation to curricula, syllabi or training programmes being taught to suit the needs of the school. A list of suitable applicants may be set up, from which future vacancies may be filled within a four-month period from the date of this advertisement.
