Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Principal (permanent) of
Scoil Mhuire Senior, Ballymany, Newbridge, Co Kildare, Roll No. 19452Q. The appointment will be
from 2 nd November 2020 or as soon as is practicable thereafter.
Scoil Mhuire is a Catholic School, under the patronage of the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin. The
successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to continue to lead and strengthen the
Catholic ethos of the school and must have a recognised qualification to teach religious education.
Founded in 1975, Scoil Mhuire Senior, is an established co-educational senior school catering for
children from 3 rd to 6 th class, with a total enrolment of c.420 pupils. The school has DEIS band 2
status, has an ASD unit and is involved in the Newbridge Schools’ Completion Project. Successful
candidates will need to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges and opportunities
associated with the successful management of a large and diverse school such as Scoil Mhuire
Senior.
Currently sixteen mainstream class teachers, nine special education teachers (SET) and a dedicated
teacher for the ASD class work in the school. In addition, the school has a home/school/community
liaison teacher, a school completion programme project worker and seven special needs assistants.
The competition will only proceed to interviews and appointment where there are three or more
applicants which meet the minimum requirements for the role. Please apply using the standard
application form for principals (available on Educationposts.ie) accompanied with a brief cover
letter. Please also include with your application copies of all relevant qualifications, teaching council
registration and certificate in religious education. Applications may only be submitted by email to
