Eolas Breise:
St. Anthony's is a Special School catering for pupils ages 4 - 18 years old who have Mild/Moderate Intellectual Difficulties, Autism, ADHD, Physical Disabilities, Sensory Impairments, EBD, medical conditions, various syndromes and challenging behaviour.
The qualifications and conditions of service are as specified by the Department of Education and Skills. It would be desirable that the successful candidate would have completed an appropriate Special Needs Assistant Course and have the necessary skills and interest in working with pupils who have complex profiles and challenging needs.
There are two 16 hours part time posts available.
Essential Criteria:
• Applicants must have experience in working with pupils with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory or Complex Difficulties, including Autism, in a Specialist Setting.
• Applicants must have a solid understanding of ASD and methodologies used such as TEACCH, ABA, Pecs, Social Stories, Schedules
• Experience of supporting students with challenging behaviour and using positive approaches to respond to challenging behaviour is essential. Recent or current training in Positive Behaviour Management such as MAPA CPi, Pathways, Studio 3 or from NCSE/SESS would be desirable.
• Willingness to participate in all school activities, including swimming, work as part of a team and avail of further training.
• As one of the posts involves a lot of work with medical care needs it would be essential for applicants to have current training in First Aid and Manual/Patient Handling, experience in managing care conditions of children with epilepsy, diabetes or asthma, and assisting pupils with personal hygiene/toileting including use of specialised equipment such as hoists and wheelchairs.
• Applicants who are deemed to be members of the SNA Supplementary Panel must submit a certified copy of the completed Panel Form PF1 with their application.

Appointment is subject to current vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening, completion of the online TUSLA Child Safeguarding Training and satisfactory references.

All SNA posts are subject to DES/NCSE review annually.
