Sligo School Project is a Multi-Denominational Deis Band 1 school under the patronage of Sligo School Project CLG. Experience of working in a Deis Band 1 school is preferable. Candidates must have significant experience in working with children with behavioural, physical and health care needs, communication difficulties and varying degrees of intellectual abilities. Duties include assisting with eating and intimate care, assisting in the swimming pool and other educational outings. To be competent in communicating in Portuguese and/or Polish is preferable. Candidates must be able to work well within a team and on his/her own initiative, display a strong work ethic, be flexible and demonstrate a willingness to avail of further training. Successful candidates will be expected to respect confidentiality at all times. Candidates must demonstrate practical experience with the management of challenging behaviour and promotion of positive behaviour based on strategies which are suitable in Sligo School Project. Candidates must demonstrate practical experience with conflict resolution. Manual handling experience and ability is also essential. The ability to react swiftly in flight risk situations is required. Candidates must agree to respect the ethos of Sligo School Project. This is a full time post. Compliance with relevant Garda Vetting requirements is essential. Medical fitness of the successful applicant must be confirmed before taking up the post. Applicants should have qualifications as per Department of Education and Skills Circular 0034/2018. The position is subject to SENO review. Applicants who are deemed to be members of the Supplementary Panel must furnish a certified copy of completed Panel Form 1 (PF1) with their application.
