St. Mary’s Junior Boys’ NS is currently a Catholic all Boys school and caters for pupils from Junior Infants to First Class. In addition to the mainstream classes there is a Language Class serving boys and girls (4-8 years) in the region with specific speech and language impairments. There is also a two class Pre-school Autism Unit catering for boys and girls (3-6 years) who have a diagnosis of Autism.
The following skills and knowledge are desirable for the post:
•In-depth knowledge of the curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience.
•Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
•Proven ability to develop and implement school based initiatives and policies.
•Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workloads.
•Evidence of continuing and relevant professional development.
•Excellent skills and experience of people management (any setting), leadership and communications.
•Ability to manage and lead any future educational change effectively.
•An understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school.
•Certificate to teach RE.
•Ability to work closely with Board of Management, Parents’ Council and a range of external agencies.
Three copies of the completed application form shall be submitted by post. The envelope should be clearly marked “Principal Application”. A minimum of 3 applications are required to proceed with process of appointment.
The appointment will be subject to but not limited to satisfactory references, current and continuing Teaching Council Registration, current Garda Vetting requirements and occupational health screening.
