Road Safety Educator

SGS Ireland Limited is currently looking to recruit a Road Safety Educator for a full time one year contract. This position will involve travel throughout the country.

Role Purpose
The successful candidate will be delivering road safety messages via the RSA’s Interactive Shuttle and StreetSmart Programmes. “StreetSmart” is a road safety intervention aimed at bringing road safety to life in a fun way for Primary School children via role-play in a mock-up street environment. The successful applicant will work closely with another Road Safety Educator in the delivery of the Streetsmart programme. The RSA Shuttle is a mobile interactive unit which is fitted out with a number of road safety simulators. It visits secondary schools, colleges, community events, national events, companies and festivals throughout the country all year round.

Critical Competencies
• Possess a teaching background with appropriate diploma or certificate in education - Essential
• Ability to relate/communicate effectively with all ages (in particular 4-12 yr olds)
• Clear understanding of child protection issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Patient and enthusiastic temperament, energetic, outgoing
• Ability to work to a strict timetable while ensuring that all children are involved and covering all elements of the programme
• Ability to work under own initiative without regular supervision; self-reliant
• Ability to liaise with organisations and schools on behalf of the RSA as well as building and developing relationships with same
• Possess a full clean driving license in category “B”
• Fluent English speaker
• Experience in teaching at primary school level is an advantage
