POST DETAILS
Additional Information:
This is a one year fixed term position with a view that it will become a permanent caretaker position for the successful candidate. This position will be funded by the Dept of Education Ancillary Grant scheme.
Duties to include (but not limited to)
• Key holding and alarm activation
• Care and maintenance of school buildings and grounds
• Ensuring that hazards, including ice and litter are cleared promptly and that passageways and pathways are maintained in a safe condition at all times.
• Waste management – that bins are ready for collection on a fortnightly basis.
• Checking for damages and carrying out minor repairs to fixtures and fittings e.g. electrical, plumbing, painting, repairing furniture. Liaising with tradespeople working on site e.g. plumbers, electricians, building contractors, alarm company where applicable.
• Operating a lawnmower, electrical tools and other equipment as necessary.
• Moving furniture and other school resources to and from storage as necessary.
• To fully comply with the Schools' Health and Safety Policies in relation to care taking duties and to alert Principals/management to any Health and Safety issues around the school
• To be aware of responsibilities under the Schools' Child Safeguarding Statements and to be able to report any concerns to the Principals without delay.
Essential requirements:
• Own Transport.
• Driving Licence
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Garda Vetting and Fitness to Work declaration of successful candidate will be necessary prior to appointment.
The above requirements are not an exhaustive list of duties and the successful candidate may be required to perform other duties as directed by the school authorities.
