The Board of Management of Leckaun National School invites applications from suitably qualified primary teachers for the position of Acting Deputy Principal for the 2026/2027 school year. The post arises from a career break.
Leckaun N.S. is a small, rural, co-educational, multi-grade vertical school under Catholic patronage, with two mainstream class teachers and a special education teacher post. The Acting Deputy Principal works closely with the Principal, supporting strong leadership and the smooth day-to-day running of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
The roles and responsibilities of the post are aligned with the four domains of leadership and management set out in Circular 0044/2019:
– Leading Teaching and Learning
– Managing the Organisation
– Leading School Development
– Developing Leadership Capacity
Desirable Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
– Previous teaching experience across a range of classes in a multi-grade setting, particularly with junior classes.
– Proven leadership skills, including experience in policy development and implementation.
– Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team and with the wider school community.
– Ability to foster a culture of learning, creativity and wellbeing within the school.
– Willingness to engage in Continuous Professional Development.
