An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
We have a fixed term (4 days a week) teaching position vacancy in one of our classes for children with autism. This position is for the 26/27 school year. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join the team. The pupil/ teacher ratio in the class is 6:1. Two full time ANAs/SNAs also work in the class.
We are seeking a highly motivated, flexible and committed teacher who:
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive education.
• Has experience or a willingness to work with students with Autism and complex learning needs.
• Has excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates creativity, adaptability and initiative.
• Is committed to working as part of a multidisciplinary and whole-school team approach.
• Has a strong commitment to student wellbeing, communication and positive behaviour support.
Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas is desirable:
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
• Lámh
• Positive Behaviour Support
• Total Communication Approaches
• Special Education
Experience in special education is desirable; however, applications are welcome from all suitably qualified and registered teachers who demonstrate a willingness to learn and a commitment to supporting students with additional needs.
Blessington Educate Together N.S. is a small school, idyllically situated on the outskirts of Blessington town in west Wicklow; 20 minutes from Dublin and 20 minutes from Naas. It has four mainstream classes and two classes for children with autism. We are a warm and welcoming school community.
