POST DETAILS
Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Holy Cross Mercy School, under the patronage of the Bishop of Kerry, caters for children across fourteen mainstream classes, one Early Intervention Class, and three school-age Autism Classes.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, registered, and Garda-vetted teachers with a strong work ethic for the following positions:
*Fixed-term Special Education Teacher
*Fixed-term English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher (until 23 October 2026). As this post is contingent on pupil enrolment as of 30 September 2026, the appointment can initially be made only on a temporary basis until 23 October 2026, pending confirmation that the projected enrolment has been achieved.
Successful applicants will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the ethos of a Catholic school. They will be expected to work collaboratively with all members of staff to support the continued development of the school. Teachers are also encouraged to share their individual skills and talents to enhance extra-curricular activities and promote the holistic development of all pupils.
Experience in inclusive education and educational diversity is highly desirable, particularly experience supporting children with additional educational needs and pupils for whom English is an additional language.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to manage a varied timetable, multitask effectively, and work flexibly. Experience of team teaching and other in-class support models is desirable, as is evidence of ongoing, meaningful Continuing Professional Development relevant to the advertised positions.
A single application may be submitted for both positions. Applicants should clearly indicate in their letter of application their preferred position.
Please note that the initial duties assigned to these posts may be subject to change.
Appointments will be subject to, but not limited to, the following:
*Satisfactory references (a minimum of three referees and their contact details must be provided)
*Evidence of a recognised certificate to teach Religious Education
*Current and ongoing registration with the Teaching Council
*Compliance with current Garda Vetting requirements
*Satisfactory Occupational Health screening
Closing date for applications: 3:00 p.m. on 30 July 2026
Applications will be accepted by email only to the designated email address.
Candidates selected for interview will be notified by email.
