The Board of Management of Scoil Mhuire NS, Ardeevin, invites applications for the position of Principal Teacher. Scoil Mhuire NS is a co-educational Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Tuam.
The present teaching staff comprises of 3 mainstream class teachers, 1 SET teacher, 1 SNA, 1 part time school secretary/ cleaner.
Scoil Mhuire NS is a rural school with a strong sense of community and a commitment to providing a happy, inclusive and child-centred learning environment. The school is committed to fostering high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils. In addition to this, pupils are provided with opportunities to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
*An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos and an ability to support and promote school/ parish links.
* Proven leadership skills, including policy development, implementation and review.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and people management skills.
* Experience across a range of class levels and educational settings.
* A strong commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing.
* Experience of Special Educational Needs provision and supporting pupils with additional needs.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, the Board of Management and the wider school community.
* Ability to promote a positive school culture and a culture of continuous improvement.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective leadership practice.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of the role of Principal Teacher in a contemporary Irish primary school.
To be eligible for appointment, candidates must:
* Be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 (Primary).
* Have a recognised Certificate to Teach Religious Education.
Applications will be accepted by post only. Applicants should submit three copies of the completed application form and Letter of Application.
The appointment will be subject to current Teaching Council registration, satisfactory references, Garda Vetting, Occupational Health Screening and Patron approval.
