We are seeking Special Needs Assistants who are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment, Regulation first where every pupil and student can thrive and reach their fullest potential alongside the direction and explicit classroom plan of each individual classroom Teacher.
Experience working with children in a special school setting is preferable, that suitable candidates will have experience in the care of students with dysregulation which may result in challenges and have a working experience/knowledge of the following: Lámh, PECS, TEACCH, and FEDS.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fabulous school alongside a Team of passionate educators and exceptional Special Needs Assistants colleagues.
This recruitment process will be used to fill 4 positions:
4 full time fixed term positions (32 hours) for the school year.
St. Teresa's Special School educates pupils and students with moderate, severe, profound LD and students who have Autism with complex needs. Pupils range from 4-18 years. .
Essential competencies for this position are: Experience of working with behaviours of concern, experience with pupils with Autism and severe/profound learning disability.
Experience and training in Safety Interventions, Lámh, PECS, behaviour management, communication, ACC devices and positive behaviour support is advantageous.
Candidates must be positive, flexible and work well in a team environment. The successful candidate must be willing to engage in relevant CPD, have a strong work ethic and respect the ethos of the school.
We look forward to welcoming new colleagues to our school team of 10 Teachers, 24 SNAs and our School nurse and full staff team.
It is essential to note:
Only those shortlisted for interview will be contacted. The successful candidates will be required to participate in training/induction from Tuesday August 25th
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
In addition to the advertisement, additional positions include a position of one day (Friday) per week.
Additional job share position available.
Additional from the panel, substitute work will be available.
Appointments will be subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening and satisfactory references.
