Special Needs Assistant (SNA) – Mainstream Primary School
Kilcrumreragh NS invites applications for the position of Special Needs Assistant (SNA) to support pupils with additional care needs in a mainstream primary school setting.
Essential Requirements
A recognised SNA qualification meeting current Department of Education requirements.
Experience working with children in a primary school setting.
Ability to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Emotional and behavioural needs
Sensory impairments and complex care needs
Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals.
Flexibility, initiative and a child-centred approach.
Desirable Experience and Skills
Experience supporting pupils who use hearing support technology, including the care and maintenance of hearing equipment.
Experience supporting pupils with visual impairments and familiarity with visual support equipment and resources.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and digital learning tools used to support inclusion and access to the curriculum.
Interest in and confidence using digital technology to enhance pupil engagement and learning.
Experience implementing behaviour support strategies and promoting positive inclusion within the classroom environment.
Relevant training in areas such as autism, sensory processing, communication supports, intimate care, manual handling or medical care needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support the care and educational needs of assigned pupils in accordance with Department of Education Circulars and school policies.
Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life.
Support pupils with organisational, communication, sensory and social needs.
Assist with the care, monitoring and maintenance of specialised hearing, visual and assistive technology equipment where required.
Promote pupil independence, confidence and wellbeing.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold child safeguarding procedures at all times.

The Closing date for the receipt of applications is 30th June at 3pm applications received after this time will not be considered. Only those shortlisted for interview will be contacted
