Scoil Naomh Mhuire, Ballyhahill is a vibrant three-teacher rural DEIS school with strong community links and an active Parents Association. The Board of Management invites applications for a permanent Special Needs Assistant (SNA) to support pupils with additional needs and help ensure full access to learning and school life.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support pupils in the classroom and during other school activities, under the guidance of teachers.
• Assist with individual education plans and learning support programmes.
• Promote wellbeing, inclusion, and participation for all pupils.
• Collaborate with teachers, SNAs, and school staff to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
• Participate in relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a caring, flexible, and committed SNA who:
• Is empathetic, patient, and approachable, with the ability to meet diverse pupil needs.
• Works effectively as part of a team with teachers, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and supporting each child to reach their potential.
• Upholds the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
• Shows enthusiasm for contributing positively to the wider life of the school, including supporting school initiatives and extracurricular activities where appropriate.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience of working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), additional educational needs, or challenging behaviour is desirable.
• Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional, behavioural, communication, or sensory needs in a primary school setting would be an advantage.
• Relevant training in areas such as autism, behaviour support, personal care, manual handling, or communication strategies is desirable.
