The Board of Management of Rathcormac National School, under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Elphin invites applications for the position of Administrative Principal Teacher (permanent), commencing on Friday 28th August 2026.
Rathcormac National School is a vibrant and inclusive school committed to providing a high-quality, holistic education for all pupils. The Principal will lead a dedicated and collaborative staff who will work closely with the Board of Management, parents and the wider school community to ensure the continued development and success of the school.
The roles and responsibilities of the post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as outlined in DES Circular 0044/2019:
Leading Teaching and Learning
Managing the Organisation
Leading School Development
Developing Leadership Capacity
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
An in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and have a broad range of teaching experience.
Excellent people management, leadership and communication skills, a proven ability to implement school based initiatives and policies and a commitment to continuous professional development.
A clear and ambitious vision for high-quality teaching and learning, and a strong commitment to inclusive and child-centred education.
Proven leadership and management experience within a school setting, and experience in school self-evaluation and school improvement planning.
A strong commitment to Rathcormac National School's values of kindness and respect, to continue to uphold the Catholic ethos of the school and to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.

The appointment will be subject to Garda Vetting, satisfactory references (please provide three with contact numbers),Occupational Health Screening and the approval of the Patron
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a Primary School in Ireland
