POST DETAILS
Additional Information:
Ardnagrath Primary School is a vertical co-educational school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Meath, Dr. Tom Deenihan. The school seeks to appoint an Administrative Principal beginning on 1st September 2026.
The present teaching staff comprises 1 Administrative Principal, 5 mainstream class teachers, 2 Special class teachers and 2 SET teachers..
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong inter-personal skills, who is required to lead and maintain a happy, active and progressive school community. While this school has respect for diversity of beliefs, traditions, languages and ways of life in society and welcome children of other faiths or no faith, the school maintains a strong Catholic ethos and a commitment to supporting this ethos is essential, as is a recognised Certificate to teach Catholic Religious Education.
Additionally, fostering links with the wider community is highly desirable.
This school always strives to be a child-centred, happy and safe environment for all its pupils to learn and develop to the best of their individual strengths and abilities.
In addition to high academic expectations, pupils are provided with opportunities to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
It is the policy of Ardnagrath Primary School to foster self-esteem and empathy and to value each pupil for their uniqueness and difference. High standards and expectations are promoted, with effort and initiative recognised and rewarded appropriately.
The roles and responsibilities for this post are set out in the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in DoE Circular 0044/2019, Chapter 4
1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Candidates should have current and continuing Teaching Council registration and show evidence of and commitment to ongoing Professional Development. An in-depth knowledge and experience of SEN, EAL and managing a special class is very desirable.
Candidates should have the ability to foster the involvement of parents within the school community, as well as a commitment to inclusion and diversity.
The appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria: fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council and have at least 5 years recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
Shortlisting will apply.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Canvassing will disqualify.
Ardnagrath Primary School is an equal opportunities employer.
