The Board of Management of St Cronan's NS (Roll Number 16872A) under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin invites applications for the position of Deputy Principal . This is a key leadership role, offering an opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and leadership teams to support the effective management, development, and wellbeing of a diverse and inclusive school community.
The Deputy Principal will have a particular focus as SEN co-ordinator encompassing planning, inclusive practice, and the continued development of the school’s special education provision, including two established autism classes. The role involves close collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies, as well as responsibility for whole-school curricular and policy development and the day-to-day management of personnel and resources.
The Deputy Principal occupies a position of vital importance within the senior leadership team in a school. Shared leadership requires openness and willingness on the part of the Deputy Principals, to share and to distribute leadership and management responsibilities in a manner that encourages and supports partnership. The Deputy Principal co-operates with the Principal in the fulfilment of the Principal’s role and acts or deputises as the Principal in the Principal’s absence.
Eligibility Criteria:
Fully registered with the Teaching Council (Route 1 – Primary)
Minimum of 5 years recognised teaching experience, two of which must be in a
recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
This is a permanent position appointed through open competition in line with Circular 0044/2019.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities:
The role aligns with the four domains of leadership and management as outlined in Looking at Our School 2022 and Circular 0044/2019:

2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
