From time to time the school needs substitute bus escort due to staff sickness / unavailability. The Board of Management of St Josephs Primary School VI wish to create a substitute list of bus escorts that will fulfill the role of escorting the children from their homes to the school in Drumcondra Dublin 9.

The Department of Education allocates funding to special schools for the employment of bus escorts to accompany children whose care and safety needs require this support while travelling on school bus transport. The children at St. Joseph’s all have a visual impairment, and a significant number have additional needs, including medical, physical and behavioural. Safe supervision is of paramount importance and many of the children require assistance with mobility. Some require specialised support due to their medical conditions and others require compassionate support for their sensory regulation and/or behavioural difficulties.

Payment:

● To ensure that pupils are seated with the required seatbelts/ straps/ harnesses before transport moves.

● To sit with the pupils in the bus so that maximum supervision and care of the children is possible, i.e. not at the front of the bus by themselves; attending especially to those with priority medical or behavioural support needs.
