POST DETAILS
Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
This position is a permanent, full time post in a class for children with ASD and complex needs. Experience of working with children who have Autism is essential for this post. Experience of working in a special class for children with ASD will be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate must be:
• flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the school
• energetic, enthusiastic, can contribute to our team, work on his/her own initiative and have a high level of interpersonal skills
• demonstrate a strong knowledge of Autism and experience of positive behaviour support strategies
• Show a willingness to adapt, learn and co-operate with others
• willing to undertake CPD courses which relate to the needs of the children in the class & the school.
• Familiar with a variety of forms of language and communication
• Willing to foster, create and maintain open and rich relationships with children, parents and co-workers
