The Board of Management of Dominican College, Galway, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Business and Learning Support teacher (with the ability to teach some Mathematics ideally) to join our team.
Our school prides itself on fostering a positive and supportive environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.
This contract is for 16 hours per week to cover for a teacher going on maternity leave. These hours will most likely increase on a weekly basis with extra hours for substitution. The contract will commence on Monday 3rd November 2025 and continue until the end of the 2025/26 academic year.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality Business lessons across relevant year groups in line with the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate curricula.
• Provide Learning Support to students with a range of needs, ensuring inclusive teaching practices and differentiated learning.
• Ideally, contribute to the teaching of Mathematics, depending on timetable needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular initiatives and whole-school planning.
• Develop and implement strategies to support literacy, numeracy, and study skills within Learning Support.
• Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and maintain accurate records.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the wider school community.

Essential Requirements
• A recognised degree in Business with registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Business recognised as a teaching subject).
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to support students with a range of learning needs.
• Commitment to inclusive practice, student wellbeing, and whole-school initiatives.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience
• Ability and qualifications to teach Mathematics in addition to Business.
• Experience in delivering Learning Support programmes at post-primary level.
• Familiarity with digital tools to support teaching, learning, and student progress monitoring.
• Training or certification in SEN strategies, literacy/numeracy support, or educational assessment.
