St. Mary's Central NS is a Catholic school under the patronage of the diocese of Cashel & Emly. We cater for a current enrolment of 135 and have two Autism Classes attached to our mainstream setting.
Staffing from September 2025 will include 6 mainstream class teachers, 4 SET, 2 Autism Class Teachers and 6.5 SNA posts. This post is an Administrative Principal position.
Please note: Applicants must hold a certificate to teach Religious Education in the Republic of Ireland. This certificate must be recognised by the First Episcopal Conference.
The eligibility criteria, essential roles and responsibilities of the post of Principal Teacher are determined by the four Domains of Leadership and Management as set out in chapter 4 of circular 0044/2019:
1 Leading Teaching and Learning
2 Managing the Organisation
3 Leading School Development
4 Developing Leadership Capacity
In addition, the following skills experience and knowledge are desirable:
• Knowledge, understanding and capacity to lead and successfully manage the school
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and DEIS
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
• Excellent people management, inter-personal skills, teamwork and communication skills
• Evidential experience of managing people
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Proven Leadership Skills
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives
• Previous experience in policy formulation and implementation.
• Knowledge and experience of Special Education Needs and EAL
• A commitment to inclusion and diversity
• Ability to foster links with parents/guardians and the wider community
• Ability to promote a culture of caring, learning and creativity in the school
