An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
We have a full Day post available (32 hours per week). The successful candidate will support children in both our mainstream and ASD classes.
The duties of this role are outlined in the Department of Education Skills Circular 0030/2014 and other relevant circulars. The post is subject to continued NCSE allocation and SENO review.
Applicants must demonstrate the specific competencies and requirements to address the educational and care needs of children. The minimum qualifications are as specified in DES Circular 0051/2019; however, relevant qualifications such as Fetac Level 5/6 in Special Educational Needs, First Aid certification, Lamh, or ICT are desirable.
Candidates must be able to work effectively as part of a team, be flexible, show a strong work ethic demonstrate a willingness to undertake further training, Respect for the school’s ethos and the ability to work under the guidance of the teaching staff and the school Principal are essential
Applicants should have experience and relevant qualifications in working with children with ASD, ADHD, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and children with behavioural needs.
Successful candidates will be expected to complete 72 hours (in accordance with the DES Circular 71/2011) throughout the year
Desirable skills include
• willingness to undertake courses which relate to the needs of the children and of the school
• suitability to the school environment and the needs of the pupils in the school
• experience of working in a DEIS school setting.
• experience in a Special Class setting
• experience of working with pupils with autism and other special educational needs
Appointment is subject to Garda vetting requirements, occupational health screening, and the completion of the online Tusla Child Safeguarding training.
The school is also establishing a substitute panel of suitable SNAs to cover staff absences.
