An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

The successful candidates will be expected to work five days a week.

The successful applicant will work under the guidance and direction of the school Principal. Applicants for the position must demonstrate:
• An excellent understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant, as per Circular 30/2014 from the Department of Education;
• An understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant in the context of addressing the specific care needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs, as per Circular 30/2014 from the Department of Education;
• Experience of working with pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs;
• An understanding of the importance of flexibility and teamwork within different Special
Education settings across the school i.e. special class settings (ASD) and mainstream class settings;
• An ongoing commitment to availing of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
opportunities.
N.B Please include the names, roles and mobile phone numbers of at least two professional referees from a school/early childhood education setting.
Appointment will be subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening, satisfactory references, relevant qualifications as per Department of Education & Skills requirements and TUSLA Child Safeguarding Training.
