This unique teaching position arises from two separate allocations to the school of part- time hours which will be amalgamated to 18 hours in total. (Will be 10 hours +8 hours)
This will be a fixed term contract for 1 year.
The teacher will work along side a team of staff who are working with students who have highly complex needs.
The successful candidate must have experience in teaching children with social emotional behaviour difficulties and autism and must be available for 3 hours teaching daily This time may be flexible to suit the students programmes. (total 18 hours per week)
The teacher will be required to teach students in a small classroom setting with high staffing to student ratio.
The team will be managed by a senior teacher.
Knowledge and experience working with children with special needs is essential. Experience and ability to manage behaviours of concern is required.
We are looking for a teacher who is inclusive, flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the school. The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic and can work on their own initiative whilst making a positive contribution to their school team.
The successful candidate must be willing to undertake in-school training which relates to the needs of pupils and the school. (pro-rata)
Some of the complex needs with which students present include autism, multiple disabilities, communication needs and sensory processing difficulties. Prior experience of supporting students with these special needs is desirable.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory Garda vetting and occupational health screening.
