An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Rahan N.S. welcomes applications for a permanent, full-time Special Needs Assistant position. Rahan N.S. is a growing Catholic school in the Diocese of Cloyne, with five mainstream teaching posts, two SET posts, and two permanent SNA posts. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and promote the school’s Catholic ethos, which is rooted in respect, inclusion, kindness, and care for the holistic development of every child.

Applicants must have the minimum qualifications as set out by the Department of Education. Additional qualifications in special education or care are highly advantageous. Experience in a school setting and confidence in using digital technologies are also desirable.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate and committed, with a strong work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative and supportive team. Excellent communication skills, an understanding of school life, and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development are essential. A high level of discretion and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality is also required.
