An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
There are two SNA positions available for the 2025/2026 school year:
Full-Time SNA Post
Part-Time SNA Post (0.83 – Infant Hours)
One post will be primarily based in our autism class, with the potential to support mainstream classes as needed. The other post will be based primarily in mainstream, but this may be adjusted depending on the evolving needs of the school and pupils.
Essential Skills and Qualities (for both roles):
A caring, patient, and flexible approach to working with children with additional needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
An understanding of the importance of routine, structure, and positive behaviour supports
Experience (formal or informal) supporting children with autism and/or complex needs
Willingness to assist with intimate care needs and sensory regulation strategies where required
Ability to remain calm and focused in a busy or emotionally demanding environment
A strong commitment to inclusion and supporting children to access the curriculum and school life to the fullest extent
Applicants should be prepared to work across both special class and mainstream settings, depending on school needs. Relevant training or experience in areas such as ASD, communication supports (e.g. PECS, Lámh), sensory regulation, or challenging behaviour is desirable.
