The Board of Management of St. John's Special School wishes to invite expressions of interest in permanent vacancies from teachers on the Supplementary Panel for the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore, with initial duties in a class for children who fall within the moderate to severe to profound level of intellectual disability.
St. John's School is a special school; we educate students aged 4-18 with Mild, Moderate, and Severe to Profound I.D. Many students have complex and co-occurring needs.
Experience of working with children/young adults with an Intellectual Disability and a co-occurring diagnosis such as autism or an assessed syndrome is an advantage, as is experience in using LÁMH and training, knowledge, and experience of managing behaviours that challenge.
We are interested in teachers who are passionate, caring and professional, and who will join our established team in making a difference in our learner's educational journey. The teacher will need to engage in patient handling training, crisis management training and epilepsy training. The teacher will work closely with and liaise with the school nurse, visiting teachers, CDNT therapists and other agencies.
The teacher is to be from those teachers listed on the Supplementary Panel for
the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore
