Scoil Naomh Bríd in Ardaghy is a rural, co-educational school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Armagh. The school seeks to appoint a Teaching Principal. It has three mainstream class teachers, a full-time special education teacher, a part-time special education teacher and 3.5 special needs assistants.
Applications are invited from fully qualified teachers, must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1- Primary), be fully Garda vetted and have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a recognised primary school in Ireland.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, taken from ‘Looking at our School, 2022: A Quality framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools’.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The following skills, knowledge, experience and competencies are desirable:
An understanding and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.
An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting.
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with all staff members, Board of Management, parents/ guardians and the wider school community
.• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion in a multi grade setting.• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development.
• An in-depth knowledge of the primary school curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives with a strong commitment to leading teaching and learning.
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Previous experience in policy development.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong inter-personal skills that are essential in maintaining a happy, active and progressive school community.
