Additional Information:
The Board of Management of Saplings Special School, Carlow invites applications for the position of Special Class Teacher (Permanent Post). We are also recruiting for a part-time fixed term (Job share) position.
Saplings Special School is an evidence-based school for pupils aged 4–18 years with Autism and Complex Needs. The school has five classrooms catering for 30 students. We value individualised, evidence-based education and assessment, and provide a supportive, collaborative working environment.
This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a dedicated and highly qualified team of teachers and SNAs. Staff at Saplings Carlow also collaborate regularly with multi-disciplinary professionals to deliver high-quality, individualised educational programmes.
Essential Requirements:
- Fully qualified teacher recognised by the Teaching Council under Route 1 (Primary), Route 2 (Post-Primary) or Route 4 (Other).
- Experience working with autistic individuals in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting students with behaviours of concern in a special school environment.
Desirable Experience:
- Training or experience in ABA, TEACCH, PECS, LÁMH.
The successful candidate will be:
- flexible, inclusive, energetic, and demonstrate initiative.
- willing to undertake in-school training relating to the needs of the students.
- available for Croke Park hours on the two days prior to school reopening.
- committed to working as part of a dynamic and supportive team.
- a reflective practitionner and seek out Teacher Professional Learning in areas of self-identified need.
