St. Joseph’s N.S. is a rural Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Killala. It has two mainstream class teachers, a shared Special Education Teacher and one Special Needs Assistant.
Applications are invited from fully qualified teachers, who are registered with the Teaching Council (Route 1 Primary), for the permanent position of Principal Teacher of St. Joseph’s N.S., Ardkill, Templeboy, Co. Sligo.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Applicants for this position should demonstrate:
• An understanding and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school
• Proven leadership, management and administration skills in a primary school setting
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion in a multi grade setting
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
• An in-depth knowledge of the primary school curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives with a strong commitment to leading teaching and learning
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Previous experience in policy development
• Ability to work collaboratively with all staff members, Board of Management, parents and the wider school community

Appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, proof of Teaching Council Registration, satisfactory references, Occupational Health Screening, proof of qualifications, and approval of the patron.
