Applications are invited from fully qualified teachers who are registered with the Teaching Council and have a minimum of 5 years recognised teaching service in a primary school in Ireland. Candidates are asked to provide a cover letter detailing their experience, skills and qualities and showing their suitability for this post. Copies of certification to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school must be included (for candidates who qualified prior to September 2011 a certificate to teach Catholic religious education in Ireland is desirable) . Email address is required as all communication will be via email.
The Deputy Principal occupies a position of vital importance within the senior leadership team in the school. The Deputy Principal will cooperate with the Principal in the fulfilment of the Principal’s role and will act or deputise as the principal in the Principal’s absence.
The Deputy Principal will work in collaboration with the Principal to support and develop the school’s ethos, shared leadership, and day-to-day management. The Deputy Principal will also have a key role in the school’s leadership and will be expected to make a significant contribution to the overall development and direction of the school.
The Deputy Principal, along with the other members of the Leadership and Management Team, will model and promote a positive culture of mutual trust, respect, shared accountability, and confidentiality, ensuring that all pupils have a positive educational experience.
The responsibilities of the role will, at times, require the successful candidate to participate in the leadership role outside of the standard school day. As the needs of the school evolve, a review of duties may result in the reassignment of the roles and responsibilities within the Leadership and Management team.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
