The Board of Management of St. Canice’s Boys’ National School, Finglas, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Principal Teacher to take effect from 1st September 2025.
St. Canice’s Boys’ National School is a Catholic School under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell.
St. Canice’s Boys’ National School is a DEIS band 1, all boys, vertical, mainstream school, with 28 teaching posts and 7 Special Needs Assistants
Recruitment and appointment procedures are in accordance with DE Circular 0044/2019, Chapter 4.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
Applicants who qualified after Sept 2011, a recognised certificate to teach Religious Education is required. Applicants who qualified pre-Sept 2011, a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education is desirable.
Applicants should demonstrate:
• An understanding and a commitment to the values, vision and Catholic ethos of St. Canice’s Boys’ National School, Finglas and an ability to support and promote school/community links
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum, a range of teaching experience and high level of understanding of SEN, EAL inclusion and differentiation
• An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting
• Involvement in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of school based initiatives
• A proven ability to work collaboratively with all staff members, parents, Board of Management and the wider school community
• A proven experience in prioritising, planning and policy development is essential
• The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with the strong interpersonal skills required to lead and maintain a happy, active, and progressive school community.
