St. Mary's Senior National School is a senior co-educational school under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell. The school seeks to appoint an Administrative Principal beginning on the 1st September 2025. St. Mary's SNS is a school with a catholic tradition and ethos; however, we welcome children of all faiths and none. Our school recognises the variety of differences that exist among children and the need to appreciate and respect all difference both ethnic and cultural. Our focus is on developing the moral, spiritual, physical, academic, aesthetic and cultural aspects of each individual pupil in an atmosphere of mutual respect where all members of the school community feel happy and secure working in a spirit of encouragement and enthusiasm while recognising and celebrating diversity.
The present staff comprises 1 Administrative Principal, 13 Class Teachers, 6 SETs, 1 EAL, 1 secretary, 1 caretaker and 5 SNAs.
The roles and responsibilities for the post of Principal are aligned to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
Applications are invited by email for the attention of the Chairperson of the Board of Management from teachers who are fully registered with the Teaching Council. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a primary school in Ireland and hold a certificate in the teaching of Religion. The appointment will be subject to Garda Vetting, satisfactory references, Occupational Health Screening and the approval of the Patron. Candidates must be familiar with Child-Safeguarding and have completed TUSLA Children First.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
• A clear understanding of and commitment to the
ethos of this Catholic school.
• Proven excellent leadership, people management,
and communication skills.
• Experience and knowledge of prioritising,
planning, implementing, and embedding whole
school policies/procedures.
• In-depth knowledge and experience of the primary
curriculum at different levels and evidence of
involvement in facilitating positive change through
the school self-evaluation process (SSE).
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of
special educational needs, inclusion and diversity
in education.
• Strong inter-personal skills required to lead and
maintain a happy, active and progressive school
community.
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and
relevant professional development.
• A willingness and ability to work in partnership
with external agencies and community groups.
