An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

The candidates should have experience in working with and an understanding of special needs and be able to deal with parents and staff in a professional manner. Duties will include escorting children to and from school, assisting children to board and safely exit from the school transport, ensuring that all children are seated with the seat belts provided and ensuring that each pupil is received by some responsible person at the school and home setting. Previous experience working with children with special needs would be an advantage but is not essential.

Applicants must supply character reference and Garda Vetting and Children's First training are mandatory.

The role is approximately 20 hours per week with rate of pay €15.50 per hour during the school term only.

The contract is for the final school term. Holiday pay is at a rate of 8% per hours worked and paid at the end of each term. The post is a non-pensionable post.
