The role of the SNA in Gormanston College continues to be; to support the primary care needs of students; to assist classroom teachers and special class teachers and to ensure that the student is able to access education as set out in Section 5 of circular 30 / 2014.
SNA staff working in Gormanston College will be deployed in a manner which best meets the care needs of students. The school will maintain flexibility in how our SNA allocation is best deployed. Students with the greatest level of need will receive the greatest level of support.
An SNA working in Gormanston College provides the necessary non – teaching services to students with assessed educational needs. An SNA will collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other relevant stakeholders and interested parties to help build and create an inclusive learning environment that promotes the overall development and well-being of students with special needs.
A full time SNA post has now become available. While the advertisement states "fixed purpose" this will be reviewed at the end of this school year. A further 0.5 SNA post is also available arising from a temporary allocation.
