St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. is a co-educational, Rural DEIS Catholic Primary School , situated in Killina,Carbury, Co. Kildare. This school has a Catholic Ethos and is under the Patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Bishop Denis Nulty.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
• A commitment to continue to lead and strengthen the Catholic ethos of the school.
• Evidence of leadership skills, a proven ability to work as part of a team and the ability to foster leadership in others.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• A commitment to work in partnership with the Deputy Principal and the in-school leadership team in furthering the aims of the school.
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives.
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and inclusion.
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum.
• Previous experience in policy development.
• An understanding of School Self-Evaluation and long term strategic planning for the development of the school.
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria - fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council and have 5 years’ recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, taken from ‘Looking at our School, 2022: A Quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools’.
