This is a permanent position in a teaching capacity that will be appointed by open competition. The school has a multidenominational ethos based on the core values of Kerry Education and Training Board.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 Primary.
The Deputy Principal occupies a position of vital importance within the senior leadership team in the school. The Deputy Principal will cooperate with the Principal in the fulfilment of the Principal’s role and will act or deputise as the Principal in the Principal’s absence. The Deputy Principal will work in collaboration with the Principal and all other members of school staff to ensure a positive learning experience for all pupils.
The roles and responsibilities for this post are subject to review and change and relate to the following four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 44/2019;
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
An understanding of the ethos of a Community National School, knowledge of the patron’s programme and a commitment to the underlying values is an essential requirement for the position. Experience in a leadership capacity in a primary school is desirable.
